About the ina boyle society
The Ina Boyle Society Limited (IBSL) is a charity dedicated to promoting the music and legacy of Ina Boyle and other overlooked Irish composers, especially women. Established in 2020, IBSL’s mission is to promote, educate, appreciate, and unify Irish composers, rediscovering and celebrating Ireland’s rich classical musical heritage, so often underappreciated. We work closely with Irish and British cultural and academic organizations to deliver Anglo-Irish partnerships in fulfilling this mission.
IBSL was founded by Katie Rowan, a relative of Ina, and is Chaired by Emma Coulthard. Our aim is to increase public awareness and recognition of Ina Boyle as one of Ireland’s most important and prolific women composers of the early 20th century. Her huge body of work, although largely unperformed, is preserved in manuscript form in the Library of Trinity College Dublin, awaiting rediscovery.
IBSL has rapidly become a unique focal point for interest in the music and life of Ina Boyle and is widely recognized and appreciated for its championing of Ina’s musical legacy. The Society has an exclusive relationship with Ina Boyle’s family, which holds the copyright to her music, as well as having strong, long-established connections to the Irish and UK classical music and academic worlds that enable the promotion of Ina’s music and the facilitation of performances and recordings.
IBSL warmly welcomes those who would like to join us in this rediscovery of Ina Boyle’s work and ask those who have an interest in performing, recording or making Ina’s works accessible to the public in any way, to read our copyright guidelines.
